Find the common theme here
In my adventures today I have listened to four albums. They are as follows.
Cleveland Bound Death Sentence - Self Titled (walking to class)
Pinhead Gunpowder - Jump Salty (eating lunch)
Crimpshrine - Duct Tape Soup (riding the bus to work)
Sweet Baby - It’s A Girl (riding the bus and then walking)
Have you figured out the theme yet? Is it on the tip of your tongue? Are you drumming on your knees because it’s bothering you so much?

There’s your answer. The one, the only Aaron Cometbus. I admit that I’m not as up on his much more famous writing work as I should be, but hot damn can this guy drum and write some songs. Seriously. Each band is so completely different but still thematically linked in some way. I didn’t even set out to do this either, I just instinctively put on CBDS and then Pinhead Gunpowder, then decided what the fuck, let’s go for broke. There are still a ton of bands he’s done that I haven’t heard, like Harbinger with one of the guys from Blatz. You can bet your sweet ass that I’ll be on the lookout (pun intended!! HA HA!) for that 12″ during my next online or brick and mortar shopping spree.
Here are some videos of Pinhead Gunpowder playing in 2001. An audio recording of the entire set was posted on Lookout! Records’ old website right after the show, I bet it’s pretty easy to track down if you try. In any case, here’s the first 12 minutes of it in complete video glory. Look at that rock behind the kit. Cometbus for life.
